At Crispin Orthotics we have a skilled team of clinicians with an interest in sport.
We provide a thorough examination of the biomechanics of the body/bike system using modern clinical tools as well as in-shoe pressure measurement and high definition video analysis. We have both rollers and a static turbo on site to allow the use of your own bike.
From this information we can determine any biomechanical factor which may have created a problem or may create one in the future.
Looking at the foot/shoe/pedal interface we can use orthotics to ensure optimal alignment of the joints within the foot which can reduce forces applied to the foot/ankle and the knee joint. We can also use orthotics to effectively redistribute any areas of high force on the under surface of the foot to assist in the prevention of hot spots.
Due to some of our clinicians participating in cycle racing we have a keen interest in the optimal cycling position and would therefore provide you with feedback on your position on the bike. We often read about cycle position and how you can apply a formula to it, however in our experience each person will have a unique position dependent on their body mechanics.
Examples of Orthotics we can use for the cyclist are:
- Low Profile Insoles
- Gel Heel Pads
- Functional Foot Orthotics (Stock)
- EVA Functional Foot Orthotics (Bespoke)
- Thermoplastic Functional Foot Orthotics
- Carbon Fibre Functional Foot Orthotics
Due to the complexity of the Orthotic provision it can sometimes be necessary to make minor adjustments to ensure that you have a perfect prescription. In order to achieve this we do not charge for any post fitting adjustments within a 12 week period. Our consultation costs can be found here.
