Comprises a thigh shell and ankle/foot shell made from thermoplastic or carbon fibre with suitable lining as required. It has jointed side members of varying materials and locking mechanisms depending on the condition being treated. Ankle joints may also be included. The KAFO is secured with velcro strapping.
Provides controlling forces to the lower limb to maintain a neutral position of the knee and foot and ankle complex in walking. The use of carbon fibre provides high strength and very low weight in comparison with more conventional Orthoses.
